10+ Ways in Which Coconut Oil Benefits Skin

Talk about superfoods, and coconut oil may probably make it to the top 10. In the recent years, this oil has gained a lot of importance, and has been used by many health and fitness enthusiasts as an energy booster, health tonic and more! The fact that coconut oil could improve hair health is well known, but could it also be great for the skin? Yes! Several studies have revealed the many benefits of using coconut oil for skin, and after going through this list, we’re sure you will use it too!

How Coconut Oil Benefits Skin

From being a key ingredient in many soaps, lotions, creams and other cosmetic products to acting as a natural detoxifying agent- coconut oil does a lot for the skin, and there probably isn’t any single food that has such a long standing history of being used so extensively in promoting overall health.

But what is it that makes coconut oil such a loved natural skincare product? Keep reading to find out.

Packed with Vitamin E

Organic coconut oil packs in the important antioxidant vitamin E. This vitamin is great for skin for a number of reasons- first, it helps control excessive oil production by regulating the amount of sebum that the skin secretes. Secondly, vitamin E also effectively reduces the appearance of scars left due to acne or any other skin complaints. To add to that, vitamin E could also help improve regeneration of skin cells and delay premature skin aging.

Fatty Acid Power

From warts to athlete’s foot- the fatty acid content of coconut oil is what makes it a super remedy for most skin infections and irritations. Simply applying coconut oil topically can prove to be extremely helpful in reducing any skin infections and irritations. What’s more, it is these fatty acids that also make coconut oil an excellent natural remedy for conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease and other brain disorders.

Excellent Natural Moisturizer

Probably the best benefit of using coconut oil for skin is that it acts as a super effective and natural moisturizer for the skin- perfect for those who have sensitive skin and are allergic to chemical creams and moisturizers. Its small molecular structure also allows it to penetrate deep within the layers of the skin, which in turn, help give it a natural healthy glow.

Powerful Anti-Aging Action

Forget those expensive anti-aging creams and switch to coconut oil, which is one of the best known natural anti-aging agent. Organic coconut oil packs in many antioxidants that fight free radicals that cause skin damage and cause the appearance of wrinkles, dark spots, pigmentation and many other signs of aging. Simply applying the oil directly onto the skin every night before bed can help you slow down your skin’s aging process and look more younger.

Super Make-Up Remover

Coconut oil has the capability to get deep into the skin, which makes it a great natural makeup remover. From long stay lipsticks to waterproof mascaras- there isn’t anything this oil can’t handle. What’s best is the fact that it is actually a natural product, which means you’ll be actually doing your skin a favor by using it and dumping your old makeup remover.

Best for Skin Problems

Skin problems like acne, psoriasis and allergic reactions can be tough to deal with, but not with coconut oil. This oil naturally moisturizes the skin, thereby reducing irritation associated with these skin disorders, and its natural antibacterial and antiviral properties work well in reducing the severity of the skin problem.

Anti-Acne Action

Using an ‘oil’ to deal with acne may seem ironic, but anyone who’s used coconut oil for acne will bet by its effectiveness. Coconut oil works by reducing the production of the skin’s own natural oil called sebum, thereby reducing acne outbreaks. Simply applying a layer of pure coconut oil on the skin and leaving it overnight can help reduce further outbreaks of acne.

Natural Sunscreen

Blocking as much as 20% of the sun’s harmful UV rays, coconut oil can also work as an effective natural sunscreen. A study has found how this oil could turn out to be effective in protecting the skin from ultraviolet radiations and therefore also reducing the risk of sunburns, wrinkles, dark spots and other effects of unprotected sun exposure.

Powerful Spot-Remover

Tired of concealing and hiding your spots? Lighten them naturally with coconut oil. Simply dabbing this oil on your spots could help reduce their appearance in just a few weeks.

Overall Skin Health

Coconut oil works in promoting overall skin health in numerous ways. For starters, it gives the skin a healthy and natural glow that possibly no chemical based skin cream can offer. Next, it also helps control skin disorders and outbreaks, improving skin tone and texture. Lastly, it also helps lighten the skin naturally by stimulating the removal of dead skin cells on the surface.

All in all, coconut oil is your ultimate skincare essential, and if you haven’t really tried using it for your skin, do it now and experience the benefits yourself!
